What if agri-waste could purify water & boost crops?

What if agri-waste could purify water & boost crops? New tech turns date palm fronds into high - tech biochar. It recovers phosphorus from wastewater. This Mg/Al - modified biochar (Mg/Al - DPF - B) has enhanced structure & chemistry from loaded nanoparticles.
Column experiments showed higher biochar mass meant greater P - adsorption. Scaled up, it can treat 116 m³ of wastewater daily, recovering >0.5 kg of P. Next, it may be turned into slow - release fertilizer.
This breakthrough has dual benefits for waste management & resource recovery. However, while promising, it has issues. Precise conditions for wastewater treatment may not work across all systems. And the long - term performance as a fertilizer, especially regarding heavy metal leaching, needs more testing.
