FAQ

  • ABOUT BIOCHAR

    • 1. What types of carbonization furnace systems does Pyrogreen provide?

      1.Screw Conveyor Carbonization/Torrefaction System(Internal heating/internal combustion)
      2.Rotary Kilns Carbonization/Torrefaction System(Internal heating/internal combustion)
      3.Updraft Fixed Bed Carbonization System( wet biochar output)
      4.Downdraft Fixed Bed Carbonization System (including two models: BC/S and BC/B,30% yield of dry biochar outpot)

      2. Can Pyrogreen systems process multiple types of biomass feedstock simultaneously?

      The system can handle various biomass types such as rice husk, corn straw, sawdust, and wood chips, but it is recommended to use one main feedstock for stable operation.

      3.What's the feedstock requirements?

      Size:1-2 cm, Mositure content: within 15%,

      4. What is the temperature of the pyrolysis reaction?

      500-700 degree centigrade.

      5. What kind of heating method of your pyrolysis?

      Indrect heating.

      6. Can the temperature and residence time in the carbonization furnace be flexibly adjusted?

      Yes, the PLC system can control the furnace temperature and adjust the rotation speed of the furnace body to regulate the residence time.

      7. What is the heating fuel?

      Diesel, natural gas, heavy oil,etc

      8. Does the carbonization system require a continuous supply of heating fuel?

      No. Once the equipment generates syngas, it can directly use the syngas as fuel.

      9. What are the main application scenarios of biochar produced by Pyrogreen carbonization furnaces?

      1.Soil amendment: Enhances soil water retention capacity and fertility, promotes plant growth, and reduces the use of chemical fertilizers;
      2.Carbon sequestration carrier: Can be stored in soil for thousands of years, effectively removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere;
      3.Industrial raw material: Used as a component in the production of filling materials and building material additives, or as a substitute for fossil carbon in the metallurgical industry;
      4.Feed additive: One of the application directions mentioned in the document, suitable for the needs of related industries.

      10. What is the expected biochar conversion rate?

      The yield of biochar is approximately 30% of the raw material amount.

      11. What's the by-product of Pyrogreen?

      biochar+ heat, no tar or condensate water.

      12. How can we take advantage of the exhuast heat?

      It can be utilized for dryer or waste heat boiler.

      13. Are there environmental emissions from the Pyrogreen system?

      No. Complete combustion of syngas in the adiabatic combustion chamber prevents tar and other pollutants from entering the environment.

      14. Why does the system not produce waste emissions and does not require cleaning and maintenance?

      The combustion temperature of the syngas in the adiabatic combustion chamber reaches above 1000 degrees Celsius, ensuring a residence time of 2 seconds. This allows for the complete combustion of tar in the syngas, preventing it from entering other parts of the system and causing condensation blockages.

  • CDR

    • 1. Can biochar produced be eligible for carbon credits?

      Absolutely. Biochar production is currently recognized globally as one of the fastest-growing carbon removal (CDR) technologies, and it is also a major source of high-quality, high-premium carbon credits in the voluntary carbon market.

      2. How are the carbon credits quantified and traded?

      We can assist clients in selecting appropriate carbon sequestration methodologies and provide equipment-integrated digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (dMRV) tools to help them convert carbon sequestration into tradable carbon credits on voluntary carbon markets.

      3. How to choose which platform to apply for carbon credits?

      You can also share relevant info to us until we can study and have a look into it, and we can analyse which methodology would be the most suitable for you. And then after the formal operation, we will start the monitoring period of the current credits. If we apply from isometric, then the monitoring period would be one month at least. And if we will apply from PURO EARTH, then the monitoring period will be at least six months. So we strongly recommend you to apply from Isometric in the first beginning because we need to check which institute would give you the most beneficiary return.

      4. Do customers need to find their own carbon credit buyers?

      You can find some buyers by yourself and you can also ask us to find some buyers for you. However, no matter which way, you are the only want to get the payment from the contract because we don't sign the contract with the buyer but you will sign with the buyer.

      5. If applying for carbon credits, what is the carbon dioxide equivalent removed by biochar?

      The specific impact depends on the carbon footprint during production and the final use of the biochar.
      We can help clients with a rough estimate.
